We both really like to combine empirical data with modeling in order to generate quantitative, testable hypotheses.

Trying to connect microbial physiology to ecological and evolutionary dynamics. We use Methylobacterium as our model system.
Trying to learn how to control and manage microbiome dynamics in the presence of external and internal perturbations. Current focus is on fecal microbiota grown in lab with flow-through bioreactors.
